No SIM Card Installed

After updating iPad Air from iOS 10.0.1 to iOS 10.0.2, iPad, I get a System Alert at startup: "No SIM Card Installed," blinking with a tone about once/second. I cannot clear or get past this alert. The iPad has been functioning problem-free for several years without a SIM Card before the update., but now is useless. Suggestions appreciated...

Several years ago I cancelled my wireless contract and removed the SIM card. The iPad has worked flawlessly ever since. Actually, I solved the present problem by powering down the iPad and waiting until the next day to restart it. The gremlin must have tired of waiting and moved on to harass others, as the problem has ceased.

Thanks for your response, though. Its always nice to find that someone is paying attention!
